Melissa is a health services researcher with a focus on using implementation science to improve the use of research evidence in routine clinical care. Melissa qualified as a speech pathologist with First Class Honours and the University Medal from the University of Sydney, and was recognised for Outstanding Academic and Clinical Performance by Speech Pathology Australia, the national peak body for the speech pathology profession. Melissa’s clinical career has focussed on training communication partners of people with complex communication needs, such as family and paid support workers. Melissa was awarded an Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Postgraduate Scholarship to complete a PhD at the University of Technology Sydney. Her project investigates the implementation of online communication interventions for people with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).
