Dr. Dimitra Tzioumi

Dimitra is a consultant paediatrician in general paediatrics and child protection and was the Head of Child Protection Services at Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick for over 20 years. She has expertise in the forensic medical assessment of children for physical abuse including abusive head trauma. She has appeared in court as an expert medical witness in many cases and has provided consultation and support to paediatricians across the state in the assessment and management of child protection cases. She is currently the Senior Clinical Advisor for Child Protection and Wellbeing for the New South Wales Ministry of Health.
