My name is Madeline. I was born and raised in Bendigo, Victoria. I am twenty-five years old. When I was eighteen I had a baby. Not knowing anything about babies I found it very difficult to navigate early motherhood. I wish so badly that back then there may have been some form of group I could have reached out to for support. Or that someone would have warned me about the dangers of shaking a baby. That is why I’ve decided to share my story with the community, in the hope that this will raise awareness of the potential of inflicting Traumatic Brain Injury. If I can prevent just one person from making the same mistake that I did – and really educate parents everywhere, especially new and vulnerable mothers – that would be the ideal outcome for me.
